• The sea is still warm from the summer, so September can be a great time to get in the water, with quieter surf spots too.
• Tehidy is the largest woodland in Cornwall, and Cardinham Woods, right on our doorstep near Bodmin, is a brilliant spot for a woodland adventure.
• Autumn brings some of the UK's most dramatic sunsets, and the clocks going back means you can enjoy them without a late night.
• Trevaskis Farm near Hayle and Trevathan Farm Shop St Endellion are firm favourites for pumpkin picking.
• Many Cornish villages join in the annual scarecrow festival, so don't be surprised to spot straw-stuffed figures on walls and roofs.

Autumn flowers are like a cosy jumper, rich, warm and comforting. Think deep burgundies, glowing oranges, golden yellows and dusky pinks, mixed with berries and foliage.

Chrysanthemums are the stars of the season. Cut chrysanthemums typically last 7 to 14 days in a vase, which is longer than most other cut flowers. They are also the birth flower for November, so they make a lovely gift for any November birthday. Now, there is a misconception of Chrysanthemums being "old-fashioned", however, there are some absolutely stunning varieties, and new funky ones are being added all the time.

"How long will my autumn flowers last?" With fresh water every couple of days and a fresh snip of the stems, chrysanthemums can be enjoyed for well over a week, often longer.
